Intended Use
CELsync is developed exclusively for closed-course competition, sanctioned motorsport, and lawful off-road applications where permitted.
CELsync is not represented, certified, or sold as an emissions-compliance device and is not intended for use on public-road vehicles where such installation or use is prohibited by applicable emissions or vehicle regulations.
Important Compliance Notice
CELsync is not intended or represented as a means of circumventing, defeating, or passing any required emissions or OBD inspection.
The module must be removed prior to any required emissions or OBD inspection. Once removed, the vehicle’s factory OBD system resumes normal operation, and any underlying diagnostic condition may again trigger the applicable diagnostic trouble code or warning light.
Installation of CELsync does not involve ECU flashing or permanent modification of the factory ECU. However, legality depends on the vehicle, application, jurisdiction, and manner of use.
The purchaser and installer are solely responsible for determining whether the purchase, installation, and use of CELsync comply with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations.
Installation or use on emissions-controlled vehicles operated on public roads may violate applicable emissions laws, including the U.S. Clean Air Act.
By purchasing CELsync, the purchaser acknowledges these restrictions and agrees to use the product only in legally permitted applications.
USER GUIDE
**Step 1: Locate the OBD Port - The OBD Port is most commonly located under the dash on the driver side under the steering wheel.
**Step 2: Plug in CELsync - Plug the CELsync device into the OBD Port.
During the initial installation, it is crucial that the expected fault codes are active, and the Check Engine Light/CEL indicator is illuminated. This ensures accurate communication between CELsync and the engine control unit.
**Step 3: Device Activation - Upon starting the engine, the CELsync device will initiate within 60 seconds or shortly after driving away. Keep an eye on the CELsync it will light up the yellow LED, as it will flash in correspondence with the engine speed, indicating successful communication with the engine control unit. As a side note, in certain vehicles, it may be advisable to use the optional flat extension cable for practicality and a more stealth installation
and or easier viewing.
Upon the initial engine start, CELsync efficiently stores all currently active error codes in its internal memory. This automatic process ensures a comprehensive record of the vehicle's diagnostics. The system can relearn active fault codes during reinstallation, if necessary for setup refinement.
**Step 4: Red LED Indicators for Code Handling Status
- Brief Red LED Illumination: Indicates that the system acknowledged an expected diagnostic code.
- Continuous Red LED Flashing: Indicates the engine control unit has not yet accepted the code handling request under current operating conditions.
- Persistent Denial: May indicate a permanent fault or ECU restrictions on real-time code processing.
**Step 5: Post-Engine Stop Procedures - Following engine shutdown, the green LED will flash every 5 seconds, signifying CELsync's ongoing monitoring. This periodic check ensures awareness of any engine restart, facilitating a seamless diagnostic process.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
**What does CELsync do?**
CELsync continuously monitors the fault code memory of the engine control unit. When expected fault codes are identified, CELsync may help manage them passively in supported use cases. CELsync can recognize previously stored fault codes during setup and adapt accordingly for consistent monitoring in supported applications.
**For which vehicles is CELsync compatible?**
Programmed specifically for each model by our engineers, CELsync is compatible with all vehicles from model year 2008. Some earlier models may also be supported if they comply with the necessary standard, identifiable by the connection of pin 6 and pin 14 to the diagnostic port. CELsync is designed for compatibility with a variety of vehicle configurations, subject to local emissions laws. However, for vehicles with engine control units that do not support clearing fault codes while driving, CELsync may not be suitable.
**Which fault codes does CELsync address?**
Adaptable and versatile, CELsync is designed to recognize and respond to certain non-critical diagnostic codes that may occur in motorsport or off-road configurations. During installation, the system learns and memorizes currently active fault codes as expected signals, which can be updated through a repeatable setup process.
CELsync is often used in high-performance applications where non-standard hardware or tuning may result in intermittent fault codes unrelated to vehicle safety or performance. If a fault code outside of the expected parameters appears, CELsync does not intervene — allowing the engine control unit to retain full diagnostic visibility and warning functionality.
